"Louis Schofield has crafted a Riesling that is redolent both of place and practice; an elegant and floral wine reflecting gentle winemaking, including use of barrique for fermentation, and the cool southern Eden Valley. Old vines (1969 plantings) add concentration and the exceptionally cool 2023 vintage speaks through then herbal and delicate quality of the flavours present. Aromas of white flowers and citrus buds unfurl on first pour, followed by crushed lime-leaf and cooling herbal aromatics. The palate is fresh, with incisive acidity, yet feels 'round'; with green apple, fennel, quinine, and meyer lemon jostling for attention above saline minerality. This has more weight, courtesy of some well balanced residual sugar, and textural interest than many of its peers across the South Australian Riesling scene." - David
