"The 2025 Gamay from the Six Js Estate Vineyard, in Steels Creek (due North of Yarra Glen), is an understated ruby, with hints of violet, in the glass. Frankly, I am impressed by how just unreasonably alluring the aromatic profile is here. Fresh raspberries and cherries followed by plum blossom burst from the glass; then complexity in the form of classic Gamay notes of woven reed mats, orange rind, and crushed marjoram. There is a lovely touch of macerated cherry in the background along with a faint mineral edge. Overall, the aromatics feel very finely delineated, no mean feat while possessing ample depth and weight that never crosses over into being forced; "everything in its right place" - Tom York. The palate is fresh and bright yet remains nicely silky; good acid picks everything up and sweeps along to a moreish conclusion. Cherry and raspberry coulis, orange zest, fresh laurel; very likeable. Crushed stones on the conclusion. Balanced and delicious. Fine!" — David
