"This ‘Orbello’ Nebbiolo from Tenute Sella is immediately entrancing, unwinding in the glass with notes of bergamot and dried orange peel, fresh marjoram and oregano, red cherry, and dried fennel seeds and cassia bark. It is the dried peels, especially the bergamot that blends with black tea like aromatics to lend a true ‘Earl Grey’ profile here, that is particularly haunting. The palate is bright and fresh, supple and silken, before firming up gently with dusty and faintly chalky tannins for the final quarter of the journey. Dried cranberry, goji berry, and fresh red cherry are present but again it is the ‘Earl Grey’ quality at the fore, again haunting. This mingles with the spectre of ‘Russian Caravan’ (slightly smoky), fresh blood orange with bright cinnamon nuances, and a juicy lip-smacking close. If my note is slightly prosaic, it is only as this is such a serious wine. Nebbiolo of this quality, delicacy and nuance, and brilliance at any price is fantastic. At this price, it is simply unbelievable." — David
