"The newly released Sorrenberg Beechworth Chardonnay from 2025 is a wine of pure pleasure. Purely gourmand aromas of pastry cream, flaked almonds, apricot Danish, grilled pineapple, and lemon curd waft alluringly from the glass. Complexifying notions of jasmine flower, fresh yellow orchard fruit, and Meyer lemon pith add nuance ... but frankly, who cares when this wine is so hedonistic. The palate is ripe and opulent yet undercut by a great sense of liveliness and Beechworth granite-allied acidity. The finish: rich and broad with just enough phenolic to keep the flavours of pistachio sfogliatelle, citrus curd, crushed hazelnuts, and marzipan in check. Utterly delicious. Not one to overthink ... and will be stellar with Lobster Thermidor in a few years. Very fine." — David
