Sailor Seeks Horse 2023 Huon Valley Chardonnay

"Exceptional Chardonnay. Undergoes no malo (ever) and maintains a wonderful harmony between its fruit and acid profiles. Dialled-up oak regime this year with slightly more new (Damy & Mercurey Cooperages) in 2023 as no 'Huldufolk' will be released, ie: Paul and Gilli's top wine.

Fine straw-to-yellow/green with some pellucid intensity. Immediately aromatically 'present' with white-green orchard fruit and crushed stones wreathed in secondary aromas of cedar and spice, together with some more yellow fruit (in reserve), toasted bran and oatmeal, and cracked wheat. The palate is taut and linear, with the flavours very cleanly delineated and presented in regimented order. Essence of ripe pear as well as white nectarine lead, followed by small river stones, then the elegant oak makes its present felt, then lees with wheat and bran, before finally a touch of cream in both texture and flavour. Sophisticated and nervy acidity underscores the whole affair. Very elegant and fresh, vital even." - David
