"Savoury, graphite led aromatic profile with salted plums, dried blood, herbs, iodine, and roasting tray abounding. Trimming are fresher nuances of damson, blackberry, and wet stone. There is a winsome, darkly nuanced aroma here that feels closest to fresh liquorice root, perhaps by way of a TCM shop. No camphor drawers though. The palate is round, fresh, and surging in its vitality; plump fruit in the middle palate is ably supported by lines of acidity, tannin, and phenolics all working in tandem. Brined black Spanish olive, rosemary, black plums and cherries; ample salinity. There is tenderness from the sands of the Vale but also a welcome hardness beneath, as if the ironstone present locally is peeking out. Could drink another glass, for sure - how often do I say that about Shiraz? Fine." — David
