"Deep, nearly midnight ruby-violet in the glass with a red-light district luridity lending a touch of the dangerous to the rim. Immediately 'on form' on first pour, this multi-regional Shiraz (Yarra Valley) - Grenache (Pyrenees) blend sees a Yank breathe new life into the quintessentially Australian art of crossing GIs. Crushed blackberries, Cherry Ripe, and salted plum make up the core of the aromatic profile around which wreathe nuances of oregano and sweet cured fat. Despite the glossy density of the fruit there is great freshness here; salinity again is the key. The palate is full yet never seems to get bogged down in the lower reaches of the mouth, everything moves across the centre and upper areas of the tongue, structured by acidity and a light phenolic touch. Tannin plays a secondary role. Further red and black forest fruits, garrigue, and a crushed stone minerality with hints of blood orange appearing on the finish.
