"Pale garnet with slight bricking. Once again the Famille Morey has turned out a decidedly savoury wine; there are lovely fruit elements at play here but they are secondary to the savoury, the mineral and spice nuances. Unfurls slowly in the glass with dark spice, pain d'epice, coffee grounds, cracked peppercorns and roasting tray; slight hints of sloes and blackberry peak out beneath. The palate is slightly burlier than the GSM offering, with rustic grip. Black and blue fruits abound on the palate, surprising following the aromatic profile, with bay and blackberry preserve and repeating saline notes on the close. With the Sorrenberg Syrah being practically mythical, this is as close as we will get." - David
