“Again on the North end of Nuits, with clay-rich soils and several small springs (Allots in this instance deriving from “à l’eau”), directly adjacent to the band of Premier Cru sites above. Remoriquet’s oldest holdings lie here with a high proportion of vines planted in 1944. Boasting significantly more concentration, power, and a spot of unintegrated oak, the 2022 Les Allots opens with a brighter but not lifted nose of dark cherry, crushed blackberry and sous-bois. Coaxing here brings presence without revealing further detail. Resolutely medium-bodied, with a purity and focus not seen on the generic villages equivalent. The tannins may be finer, but are out in greater force, mustering especially on the long close. Further red fruits, balsam characteristics and a hint of turned earth. Very fine.” - David
