Domaine Remoriquet 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru ‘Les Damodes'

“Situated on the upper slope, this vineyard in particular lies directly adjacent to Vosne Romanee — to which it very clearly shows stylistic affinity. The soil here is fine gravel on top of pink Premeaux limestone. The 2022 Damodes has more power, weight, and depth than the Bousselots, but lacks the finesse and precision than that lower-elevation plot brings. Dark, brambly fruit, gravel and mineral ores, balsam all waft alluringly from the glass with sous-bois making its presence felt with time. The palate is medium-bodied, with a resonant quality to the tannins. There is less symmetry here than the Bousselots, but ample dark red fruit, turned earth, broken rock, and dried tobacco all run in fine array across the palate. This is worthy of attention and offers a good counterweight to the Bousselots. No less fine.”- David
