Domaine Hauvette 2019 Alpilles Blanc ‘Dolia’

"A powerful wax and citrus zest inflected nose brims with pungent melon aromatics, apricot skins, and complex herbal and spice nuances. Especially present are thyme and anise. The palate is full and ripe without ever tipping into unctuousness, and has glorious phenolic presence. Savoury and tending tertiary, with further anise trimmed flavours of garrigue, peach, and a melange of dried peels.

I usually struggle with Southern French whites of all stripes. Perhaps it is the lack of acidity, or structuring phenolics. No such lack here." — David
