"Classical in profile, the 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo from Cigliuti drifts lazily from the glass with beguiling aromas of dried spices and candied peels, red damsons, cherry, and pressed rose petals. The sense of ennui here is not a negative; this is a wine that beckons rather than brashly impresses, and is the better for it. Time in the glass brings nuance to the spices: revealing cinnamon, mace, nutmeg, and smoky black cardamom; and further definition to the fruit, with notions of black raspberry and dark cherry unveiling themselves. There is a faint mineral trace, like iodine or bromide, that adds complexity and reveals the Serraboella terroir. The palate possess all the immediacy of a regional wine with enough mass and complexity to make one think that good fruit is being declassified here. Which it is. Bay and fennel seeds, fresh mint, further candied peel, fresh and dried plum, sweet cherries. Subtle hints of liquorice, camphor, and spice-box on the close" — David
