"The 2023 Chianti Classico from Castello di Monsanto is the definition of ruby in the glass. The aromatic profile suggests purity: fresh red cherry, pouch tobacco, and sliced orange make up the core components here. These elements never compete for attention rather they emerge from a ground of crushed limestone, graphite, and worn leather nuances to make their presence felt before either merging seamlessly back into the savoury base or transitioning to the next character. Herbal qualities inflect all these notions, adding lift and further freshness. The palate is youthful, slightly bucolic, and finishes very mineral with a wealth of chalky acidity without loosing its sense of fullness.
