"A lovely, fulsome ruby with classic brick-orange rim. Enticingly reticent in the glass, unwinding slowly and with great allure revealing aromatic facets as if this gem is being cut before us: crushed black raspberries, blood orange peel, dried sage, cypress and cedar, sweet pipe tobacco. These tend to prism the light of experience centrally and one perceives at the centre dark cherry, incense, and mineral tones. Entranced already. The palate is silken on entry then bracingly fresh with acidity as bright as the Tuscan sun. Such sapidity never lets up and the wine finishes potent and mouth-watering, with mineral and herbal tones repeating on the finish accented by touches of candied peel. Tannins: fine and powdery. Dark cherry and liqueur of same, blackberry preserve, stewed rhubarb, balsamic touches; then fresh blood orange and oregano, complemented by touches of wild mint; air-cured salami and mineral salts. Leaves a lingering sensation of immense potency. Very, very moreish; especially the bitter sage and orange-pith hint on the close, which keepings the finale fresh. Fine." — David
