“It is with great pleasure that I write to announce that our next Meet the Winemaker tasting at Le Tuffeau will feature my good friend Joshua Cooper. Joshua will be introducing his newly released 2025 single vineyard wines.
I believe that the present acclaim these sites, these Victorian lieu-dit if you will, garner is due in no small part to Josh’s craft. One hears Dash Farms and immediately thinks of the rich and phenolically dense Chardonnay that he crafts; likewise the layered tannin profile and earthy, mineral derived notes come to mind on hearing Balgownie. Surely, in this latter case Josh has restored this vineyard to its rightful pedestal in the minds of a younger generation of buyers. The Lafite of Central Victoria was nurtured and raised by Stuart Anderson but has reached apotheosis with Joshua Cooper.
It is here, with a hint of sadness, I note here that Josh will be introducing his bottling from the old vines on the Balgownie Vineyard for the last time due to the uncertain future of this site.
Please join Josh and I for this very special tasting at Le Tuffeau. Josh will be on hand to answer your questions, join you for a glass, and wax lyrical on all matters Claret.

“Deep, inky garnet. This vintage shows incredibly depth and vibrancy, with lavender, pen ink, violet and creamy cassis fruit filling the nose and a savoury, wild herb and graphite complexity in the background. Medium to full bodied, but fully flavoured and packed with fine fruit tannin, with just a seasoning of oak. Again, creamy cassis, red cherry and raspberry flood the mouth, with graphite and subtle crushed ivy lend intrigue, finishing powdery and dry. Our favourite vintage yet from this site.”

“Deep, inky garnet. A wine which immediately makes one sit up and focus. Refined and complex with graphite, sweet cassis, cedar spice, violet and rose, air reveals infinite nuance and detail and a briny, nori like complexity. The palate is flooded with wave upon wave of dark Cabernet fruit, braced by a strict but not overbearing tannic structure and refreshing acid, finishing with sweet violet and cassis, and a wave of perfume. The most refined of the Cabernet cuvees, but also the most concentrated and finally balanced. The best vintage yet for us from this wonderful site and vintage and a wine that displays my most prized characteristics - effortless complexity and power without weight.”
